Choose based on your actual needs, not just the plan name
If you regularly browse research sites, work on development tasks, or stream video, a monthly plan makes it easier to manage data on a set cycle. If you mainly connect during certain projects and rarely use the service the rest of the time, a data package's carryover rules may be easier to manage. Browsing, video, and file transfers use different amounts of data; with more devices, remember to account for background syncing too. We don't estimate viewing time from data allowances, since usage varies with video quality and content.
For monthly plans, data resets on the activation date—not automatically at the start of each calendar month. Before upgrading mid-cycle, review the adjustment in the panel and confirm the prorated remaining days. For data packages, check the remaining total. “Never expires” describes the package's validity; it doesn't mean data is replenished automatically.
